Alrighty, I've been ranting about doing this for awhile now...and last night I said, "By gum! I'm going to do it!". Yes. Exact quote. Actually, it helped that I had a client looking for a newborn elf hat using chunky yarn...I had to kind of experiment with what I could and couldn't do. I really like how this turned out :)
So here's a pic of what it's going to look like...and here we go with my first...okay second pattern! [Maybe I'll post the 'first' pattern I wrote tomorrow].
Chunky Elf Hat - Newborn

Size - Newborn [12" circumference...but gives a LOT of stretch]
Materials
-Bernat Felting Natural Wool - Color "meadow" [1 Skein]
-K Hook
-Wool Needle
Stitches Used
-Ch = Chain
-Dc = Double Crochet
-Sc = Single Crochet
-Slst = Slip Stitch
*Chain 2 is not considered a double crochet...
*We're working in rounds from the top of the pointy elf hat, down to the brim...
Instructions
Round 1 : Ch 2, 4 dc in 2nd chain from hook, slst to join. [4]
Round 2 : Ch 2, dc in each dc around, slst to join [4]
Round 3 : Ch 2, dc in each dc around, slst to join [4]
Round 4 : Ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, dc til end, slst to join [5]
Round 5 : Ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, dc til end, slst to join [6]
Round 6 : Ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, dc til end, slst to join [7]
Round 7 : Ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, dc til end, slst to join [8]
Round 8 : Ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, dc til end, slst to join [9]
Round 9 : Ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, dc til end, slst to join [10]
